Seed-to-Sale Firm Nets $2M in Venture Capital Funding

Seed-to-sale firm Trellis has raised $2 million as part of their latest funding round, led by Snoop Dogg-connected Casa Verde Capital and a reinvestment by Gateway – an Oakland accelerator program of which Trellis is an alum. Trellis was founded in Toronto, Canada in 2014, and also operates in California.

Trellis launched the beta version of their service in 2015 for cultivation, manufacturing, retail, and distribution clients throughout California.

“Our focus is on developing industry tools that help clients manage their cannabis inventory, simplify their compliance processes and support the production of safe, optimum quality product,” said Trellis CEO Pranav Sood in a press release. “We are thrilled to have been able to attract such a strong team of beta clients, investors and advisors to support us in our vision.”

Karan Wadhera, a partner at Casa Verde, said that growers have been especially “thrilled” with Trellis’ tracking software.

“We have been searching for companies with an elegant solution to address the growing pains of the industry,” Wadhera said in a statement. “That is exactly what Pranav and his team have built with Trellis.”

Additional funding during the round was provided by firms outside the cannabis space including Argonautic Ventures, and One Gun.
